2020 Student of the Year Application Form
Applications with supporting grade documentation must be submitted to Ms. Préau between Monday, September 16, 2019 and Wednesday, September 25, 2019. All applications must be submitted by 2:20 pm on Wednesday, September 25. Applications will not be accepted after this date.
As stated in the application, you will need a copy of your transcript reflecting your academic performance in previous years; as well as, a copy of your current grades. In addition, please include scores for all state-wide assessments such as End of Course (EOC) assessment scores, ACT, PSAT, SAT, CLEP, Jumpstart certifications, TOPS aligned dual enrollment coursework, TOPS/TOPS Tech eligibility status, and/or other pertinent academic test results.
For the school-level application three components should be completed: 1.) the student data and signatures page, 2.) the documentation of academic performance, 3.) all three charts listing leadership, activities, recognition, and awards. The biographical sketch is NOT completed for the school-level application. The application for the Student of the Year Program is linked below.
All applications submitted will be evaluated. The top 25 students as determined from the evaluations of the applications will move onto the next section of the process and complete a timed writing assignment at Hahnville High School on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. Writing assignments will be evaluated by the Hahnville High School Student of the Year Selection Committee which will include at least one teacher, one administrator, and one community member. Evaluation results of the application and writing sample will be used to determine the top ten students who will advance to school interviews. If selected, you will be interviewed on Tuesday, October 8, 2019. A consensus of the selection committee will be used to determine the school-level winner in the event of tied scores. In the event that a decision is disputed, the following channeling will be used to resolve issues: 1.) Principal 2.) Public Information Director 3.) Director of Middle and High Schools. The Student of the Year will be chosen from the top ten candidates and will be announced on Friday, October 11, 2019.
