Mr. Gerard Nugent
Mr. Jerry Nugent
I am honored to serve as an Assistant Principal at Hahnville High School. I consider being a part of the HHS leadership team both a great privilege and a great responsibility. I am entering my 29th year as an educator and my 15th year at Hahnville. Here I have served as a U.S. History Teacher, Head Softball Coach and Social Studies Department Chairperson. The most fulfilling part of my experiences at Hahnville have been the relationships I have created with students, parents, and the faculty/staff here. Prior to my appointment at Hahnville High School, I taught High School Social Studies and coached softball in New Orleans. My career path is the direct result of the inspiration provided by my father, a high school teacher and administrator of 44 years. He always instilled in me not just the value of an education but the value of helping educate others.
My educational background includes earning my high school diploma from Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, my Bachelor's degree from the University of New Orleans and my Master's in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. My time working in St. Charles Parish has afforded me the opportunity to work with children, parents, community members, and fellow educators toward the common goal of making sure our schools provide the best opportunities for all students. Our district is committed to all students and it is my honor to help our district honor this commitment.
My duties include evaluating the CTE Departments, 11 grade discipline, coordinating the school spirit committee, coordinating student parking, ROTC Department, the detention program, advocating for the Jumpstart program, AP Testing, ASVAB Testing, PSAT Testing, School Spirit Committee, and Staff Duty Stations, My most fulfilling duties are the ones that allow me to work with students, teachers, and parents. Our community is full of amazing young people with limitless potential
